Armenian Dashnaktsutyun member arrested on terrorism charges
Andranik Chamichyan, a member of the youth wing of the Armenian “Dashnaktsutyun” party, has been placed in pre-trial detention for two months amid an ongoing investigation into alleged terrorist activity.
The decision was issued by the Court of First Instance in Yerevan’s Ajapnyak district. Chamichyan's lawyer, Ruben Melikyan, confirmed the court ruling and the charges brought against his client, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
Chamichyan is accused of involvement in the preparation of a terrorist act, as part of a wider case targeting members of the nationalist party.
Authorities carried out coordinated searches on the morning of July 10 at the homes of several Dashnaktsutyun members. Seven individuals were detained during the operation and subsequently taken to the Investigative Committee for questioning.
According to investigators, the case also involves allegations of illegal possession of firearms, ammunition, and explosives.
