Armenian FM briefs Kyrgyz counterpart on Baku-Yerevan agreement reached in Washington
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has shared with his Kyrgyz counterpart, Jeenbek Kulubaev, the details of an agreement reached between the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and the US in Washington on August 8.
According to the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the discussions focused on the initialling of an agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan aimed at establishing inter-state relations and establishing peace, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
Mirzoyan also informed Kulubaev of the potential opportunities arising from the unblocking of transport communications in the South Caucasus.
The officials also addressed broader issues on the bilateral agenda.
For the record, on August 8, US President Donald Trump hosted Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the White House for a historic signing ceremony that marked a breakthrough in the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process. The agreement, described as a joint declaration, outlined steps toward normalising relations between the two nations.
A central element of the deal is the establishment of the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP), also called the Zangezur corridor, a 27-mile (43 km) transit corridor through Armenia’s Syunik province, connecting mainland Azerbaijan to its Nakhchivan exclave, which borders Türkiye and Iran.
