Armenian media: No more panic in Pashinyan's party

26 September 2023 12:20

In recent days, the Civil Contract (Armenia's ruling party, - ed.) has held closed discussions in connection with the internal situation in the country, opposition-organised rallies, and street blocking, Yerevan-based Zhokhovurd newspaper writes citing its sources.

"After assessing the situation based on the reports of the law enforcement agencies, the members of the Civil Contract calmed down, the panic is over. The police informed Civil Compact that the movement was gradually fading away. According to the statistics presented by law enforcement agencies, the movement is on the decline, as the leaders do not carry out clear actions, which causes discontent among the people," the newspaper noted, according to Caliber.Az.

"This is the reason why, after several days of silence, in recent days some Civil Contract figures have started making statements on Facebook. The Civic Compact deputies are encouraged by this news and criticise the oppositionists that their rallies gather quickly and disperse quickly, while the Civil Contract deputies came from the streets and gained power.

In short, the Civil Contract is sure that the opposition will not manage to take power this time either. It should be noted that the same deputies of Civil Contract at the elections to the Council of Elders of Yerevan were also sure that they would get 50 per cent+ of the vote, but they got 32.57 per cent, and so far Yerevan has no new mayor," the article says.
