Armenian newspaper ponders initiator of Erdogan-Pashinyan phone talk
The information that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a phone talk with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has recently gone viral.
"Pashinyan congratulated the Turkish president on Eid al-Adha, while the Turkish president, in response, congratulated Pashinyan on the Vardavar festival. We tried to find out on whose initiative the phone talks were held, however, the government said that it had no other comments besides the official statement," Caliber.Az reports citing Yerevan-based Hraparak newspaper.
However, an agreement on phone talks had been reached earlier as part of the process of settling relations, rather than on someone's initiative. By the way, the same text was posted on the Turkish president's official website, of course, in the Turkish language.
"First, it was agreed upon, then distributed. Meanwhile, proceeding from the phone talks with the Russian president, the Armenian side spreads one information, the Kremlin another," according to the newspaper.
