Armenian official slams Russian billionaire Karapetyan's social media post
Taron Chakhoyan, the deputy head of the Armenian Prime Minister's Office, has sharply criticised Russian oligarch Samvel Karapetyan after a recent post on social media in which Karapetyan expressed his concerns about Armenia's demographic crisis.
Chakhoyan, responding to the post on Facebook, sarcastically suggested that whoever wrote the post might be better suited to writing wedding toasts, Caliber.Az reports.
He ridiculed the idea that the oligarch, who is currently under arrest in Armenia, could have written such profound texts while detained.
"Stop it, your billionaire can't string two words together, let alone write heart-wrenching texts from the National Security Service (NSS) detention center. Whoever gets arrested becomes a writer, Kocharyan is to attest to that," Chakhoyan wrote.
In his Facebook post, Karapetyan raised alarm over what he described as "catastrophic" demographic trends in Armenia.
