Armenian Olympic Committee favours bringing Russian athletes back to competition
Secretary General of the Armenian Olympic Committee Hrachya Rostomyan has spoken against discrimination against Russian and Belarusian athletes.
"We are against what is now happening in the world of sports, against the ban on Russians and Belarusians being in the Olympic family and participating in international competitions. For our part, we are ready to help in any way we can to bring the Russian and Belarusian athletes back," TASS quotes Rostomyan as saying.
At a meeting of the executive committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on March 28, it was recommended to allow the Russians in a neutral status if the athletes were not actively engaged in supporting hostilities. Athletes representing security agencies and the armed forces will not be allowed to compete.
