Russia’s top billionaires boost wealth by over $20 billion in 2025 Bloomberg reveals
The combined wealth of Russia’s richest businessmen has risen by $20.163 billion since the start of the year, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, which tracks fortunes based on company stock values.
Telegram co-founder Pavel Durov has gained $3.27 billion this year, boosting his net worth to $14.3 billion. Similarly, Alisher Usmanov, a major shareholder in Metalloinvest — the country’s largest iron ore producer — saw his wealth increase by $3.12 billion, reaching $16.3 billion.
In contrast, Vladimir Lisin, chairman of the board of directors at steelmaker NLMK, experienced the largest loss, with his fortune declining by $3.58 billion to $22.2 billion.
Since its inception in March 2012, the Bloomberg Billionaires Index has tracked the fortunes of the world’s 500 richest individuals.
Currently, there are 20 Russian billionaires listed on the index, down from 21 previously, as Alexander Abramov, a stakeholder in the Evraz mining group, did not make the latest ranking.
It is noteworthy that in 2024, the total wealth of Russia’s 25 richest billionaires grew by $18.4 billion, reaching $347.6 billion. The richest Russian remains Vladimir Potanin, a leading owner of the mining company Nornickel, whose fortune increased by $736 million over the year to $31.8 billion.
