Iran rejects Western accusations of state-sponsored threats as “baseless”
Iran’s Foreign Ministry has dismissed accusations made by 14 Western countries, calling them “baseless” and “ridiculous.”
Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei condemned the allegations as an attempt to divert attention from the ongoing violence in Palestine, referring to it as a distraction from “Israeli genocidal crimes,” Caliber.Az reports, citing Tasnim.
Baqaei also criticised the signatory countries, including the US and France, accusing them of violating international law by “supporting terrorism and hosting violent groups.” He pointed to recent Israeli-US attacks on Iranian nuclear objects, calling them acts of aggression against Iran, and denounced the joint statement as part of a broader “Iranophobia” campaign aimed at “pressuring the Iranian nation.”
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson further called on the countries behind the statement to be held accountable for what he described as irresponsible behaviour in violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.
A group of 14 Western countries, including the United States and France, issued a joint statement on July 31 condemning what they described as Iran’s state-sponsored threats and activities in Europe and North America. It was signed by the governments of the United States, the United Kingdom, Albania, Austria, Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, and Sweden.
