ASTRA: Russian defence plant targeted in suspected Flamingo missile attack Photo/Video
A Russian defence manufacturing facility producing key missile systems was targeted in an overnight attack in the republic of Udmurtia, according to open-source analysis.
Independent Russian outlet ASTRA said it analysed eyewitness footage and concluded that the strike hit the Votkinsk Plant in the city of Votkinsk. The video, filmed approximately half a kilometre from the apparent source of the fire, showed a blaze consistent with a direct impact on an industrial site.
The Votkinsk Plant manufactures several of Russia’s strategic missile systems, including the Iskander-M, Topol-M and Oreshnik. The facility is considered a key defence enterprise and is under sanctions imposed by the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Switzerland, Australia, Japan and Ukraine.
Local residents writing in chat groups claimed that workshops No. 22 and No. 36 were damaged in the attack. These reports have not been independently verified.
Ukrainian open-source intelligence (OSINT) analysts said the strike was likely carried out using Flamingo cruise missiles rather than unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), though there has been no official confirmation of the weapon used.
Votkinsk lies nearly 1,500 kilometres from the Ukrainian border.
