Iran expands maritime dialogue with Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Myanmar photo
Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, commander of Iran’s Navy, held separate meetings with senior naval commanders from Russia, Saudi Arabia and Myanmar during the MILAN-2026 exercises in India.
According to Mehr news agency, the meetings took place in the port city of Visakhapatnam, where Irani discussed expanding cooperation, joint exercises and exchanges of experience with Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Alexander Moiseyev, Royal Saudi Naval Forces Commander Vice Admiral Mohammed Al-Gharibi, and Myanmar Navy Commander Admiral Htein Win.
The talks also addressed maritime route security, counter-piracy efforts, search-and-rescue operations, and maritime crisis management. Rear Admiral Irani emphasised the importance of collective maritime security and reaffirmed Iran’s readiness to actively participate in joint naval initiatives.
The MILAN-2026 drills are among the largest multinational naval events aimed at strengthening maritime cooperation and security in international waters.
