Drone attack damages apartment buildings in Russia’s Volgograd
Russian air defence systems repelled a drone attack on the Volgograd region overnight and into the morning of February 21, regional authorities said, with debris causing damage to several residential buildings.
According to a statement published on the regional administration’s Telegram channel, window frames were damaged in four apartment buildings in the southern part of Volgograd. The affected properties are located on Taneyeva Street, Panferova Street, Saushinskaya Street and 2nd Shturmanskaya Street, Caliber.Az reports.
Regional governor Andrey Bocharov said that, following the incident, officials had been instructed to prepare a temporary accommodation centre for residents if needed. Authorities also reported that debris from an unmanned aerial vehicle fell on the grounds of one industrial site.
Officials said there were no casualties and no reported damage to municipal or industrial infrastructure.
The city administration added that once emergency services complete their work, municipal authorities and building management companies will inspect the damaged properties.
Specialists are measuring window units, temporarily sealing openings until new glazing can be installed, and informing residents about the procedure for obtaining financial assistance.
