War vet turned Duma speaker in Russia's Tomsk threatens citizen: “I’ll smash your face in!” VIDEO
A war veteran of the Ukraine conflict who became the speaker of the city Duma in the Russian city of Tomsk has threatened to "smash the face" of a local resident.
The video was posted by journalist Andrey Ostrov. In the footage, a verbal altercation is seen between Sergey Sechenov and a man, during which the deputy tells the man to "speak three tones lower." The resident demands that Sechenov stop shouting at him.
"Listen, if you 'thou' me one more time, I'll smash your f***ing face. ... I'm telling you again, I'll take your head off, f***er, yelling at me," Sechenov replies.
The deputy confirmed the argument had taken place. According to him, the local resident had been "provoking a scandal and insulting those present" at the meeting. Sechenov claims he began making threats only after the man "started insulting women."
"When the citizen began hurling insults at women, I couldn't tolerate it. I won’t let anyone insult women! That’s how I was raised, and I’ll live by that principle for the rest of my life. I’m a rather tough person, and perhaps my reaction was harsh, for which I apologise to the people of Tomsk," the official wrote.
Sergey Sechenov took part in the war in Ukraine starting in 2022. In September 2024, he was elected to Tomsk's city duma as a candidate from United Russia, and in November became its speaker.
