Russia raises state fees for drivers, migrants under new law
New state fees affecting vehicle owners and migrants in Russia will come into force from September 1.
According to Caliber.Az, the law approving the changes was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
As published on the official legal acts portal, several existing fees will also be raised.
The mandatory fee for obtaining a Vehicle Passport (PTS) will increase from 800 to 1,200 rubles, equivalent to approximately $9.60.
The charge for making amendments to an already issued passport will rise from 350 to 525 rubles, or about $6.30.
Additionally, the fee for issuing a driving licence will double. The cost of state vehicle registration plates, previously set at 2,000 rubles, will rise to 3,000 rubles, around $36.
The new legislation also introduces a fee of 500 rubles (approximately $6) for registering foreign nationals or stateless persons at their place of residence. Extending the period of temporary stay in Russia will now cost 1,000 rubles, or roughly $12.
