Armenian PM backs Trump’s Gaza peace initiative
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has expressed support for US President Donald Trump's proposed peace initiative aimed at ending the nearly two-year war in Gaza.
In a statement posted on X, Pashinyan said Armenia "supports the initiative of President Trump to end the war in Gaza" and expressed hope that “the proposal will be implemented by the parties and peace will be established without any delay," Caliber.Az reports.

Pashinyan’s endorsement adds to a growing chorus of international voices responding to the U.S.-brokered plan, which gained a major boost on September 29 after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly backed the initiative.
The White House unveiled a 20-point peace plan outlining the US vision for ending the conflict. Key elements include an immediate ceasefire, the exchange of hostages held by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli custody, a phased Israeli military withdrawal from Gaza, and the disarmament of Hamas. The proposal also envisions the creation of a transitional governing authority for Gaza under international oversight.
The plan was drafted by Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, alongside Jared Kushner, who previously served as a key Middle East adviser during Trump’s first term. It calls for a 72-hour window following the ceasefire during which all remaining hostages would be released in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. A gradual Israeli withdrawal would follow, alongside the start of Gaza’s reconstruction.
The framework leaves open a path toward Palestinian statehood but only after Gaza’s reconstruction is underway and once the Palestinian Authority implements reforms, without specifying details.
