Armenian PM: February prayer breakfast helped unlock peace agreement with Azerbaijan
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the Christian Prayer Breakfast he attended in Washington in February this year became a turning point in the ongoing peace negotiations with Azerbaijan.
According to Caliber.Az, citing Armenian media, Pashinyan made the remarks today at a similar event in Yerevan.
Reflecting on his February visit to the U.S., Pashinyan described a possible sense of “providence,” noting that the trip played a significant role in the peace process. He acknowledged that at the time, he was not fully convinced about the value of participating in the event.
“In essence, the peace process now is an event that happened between two ‘prayer breakfasts’ — in February and November,” he explained, highlighting the continuity and significance of these gatherings.
Pashinyan also emphasised that the “decisive role” in advancing the peace settlement was played by individuals present at the February event, explicitly mentioning the U.S. president and vice president.
