Armenian PM justifies himself about anti-Russian processes In letter to Putin
In a letter addressed to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan tried to justify himself in connection with the anti-Russian processes raging in Yerevan, assuring that they are not against Moscow, a source close to the Armenian government said.
"On 9 September, Prime Minister Pashinyan held telephone talks with the US Secretary of State, the French President, the German Chancellor, the Iranian President and the Georgian Prime Minister. A few days later, Pashinyan vaguely assured that he was in constant contact with Putin and that he was aware of the situation around Armenia and Garabagh,” Yerevan-based Hraparak newspaper writes, Caliber.Az reports.
According to the publication’s sources in the government, Pashinyan called Putin but the Kremlin did not answer him, after which he sent a letter to the Russian president, which the latter announced at the forum in Vladivostok.
“And if you look at Pashinyan's rhetoric, it was after 9 September that he tried to soften his stance towards Russia," the newspaper says.
