Armenian political analyst applauds Azerbaijani president's policy with global powers

Armenian political scientist Suren Surenyants, in an interview with Armenian media, has commended Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's multifaceted diplomacy with global powers and shared insights on the visit of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to various strategic regions.

“I consider Stoltenberg to be a completely prudent diplomat; he will complete his mission in this post in three to four months. And this is his farewell visit to all regions that are strategically linked to his mandate. Therefore, you should not associate anything far-reaching with this visit. In my opinion, this is more of a courtesy visit,” Caliber.Az reports.

“And finally, NATO has no interests in Armenia, drink water and relax. This person in Baku clearly stated what their interests were. Azerbaijan has a special and very important role for NATO in the region. It is no coincidence that Stoltenberg limits himself to meetings with presidents and prime ministers in Yerevan and Tbilisi, while in Azerbaijan he also meets with the defence minister. This shows which of the three countries is NATO's key partner. Azerbaijan is a strategic partner in the region, unfortunately, the same applies to other centres. Because this is the balance of power. The Azerbaijani army is a factor, our army is not a factor.

It should also be noted that while Stoltenberg was in Baku, Aliyev held wonderful negotiations with Stoltenberg, managed to send Putin a congratulatory telegram and talk on the phone. This is what a diversified policy is. The head of state is aware of his status and pursues a very effective policy with all geopolitical centres. They say that in the modern world, when there is polarization, this is impossible to do. Who said it's impossible? Stoltenberg was in Baku and made anti-Russian statements, he saved Azerbaijan from Russia and made statements of this kind, but Ilham Aliyev did not fall for it, he called Putin and sent a congratulatory message.
