Armenian political scientist highlights Yerevan's problems with Tbilisi

06 April 2024 14:14

Armenian political scientist Hakob Badalyan has made a Facebook post on Yerevan’s problems in relations with Tbilisi.

"Armenian ambassador to Georgia met with Georgian Dream Party Chairman Irakli Garibashvili. The report says that issues of Armenia-Georgia strategic partnership, as well as regional issues were discussed," Badalyan posted, Caliber.Az reports.

"The meeting of the Armenian ambassador with Irakli Garibashvili shows that there is a problem in this respect, at least some unclear, doubtful situation, and Yerevan tried to discuss it with Garibashvili.

On the other hand, there is a wonderful situation regarding Georgia. The ruling party of Georgia is proposing several bills that essentially contradict the so-called European-Western narrative.

When Kobakhidze was appointed Prime Minister to replace Garibashvili, I expressed the opinion that after obtaining EU membership status, Georgia would take steps to raise its price in its relations with the same EU. The basis for my conclusion was that Kobakhidze, as head of the Georgian Dream, was characterized by sharper rhetoric regarding Western positions than former Prime Minister Garibashvili.

The legislative initiatives of the majority of Georgia seem to confirm my point. And, apparently, here Yerevan is trying to understand what is happening in Georgia and in which “depth”," the political scientist posted.
