Türkiye’s Defence Ministry updates on military operations, industry growth
Türkiye’s Ministry of National Defence has provided an update on the activities of the Turkish Armed Forces and the country’s defence industry during its weekly briefing at ASFAT.
The ministry highlighted that ASFAT, marking its eighth anniversary, is among the fastest-growing defence companies in Türkiye, Caliber.Az reports.
The firm manufactures systems for land, air, and naval platforms and is involved in strategic projects, including the national submarine MİLDEN and the TF-2000 air defence frigate, as well as various international defence initiatives.
On internal security and counter-terrorism, the ministry reported that nine PKK militants surrendered to Turkish forces over the past week.
Operations continue to detect and destroy terrorist tunnels and fortifications in Syria, with a total of 747 km of tunnels neutralised so far. At Türkiye’s borders, 114 individuals were apprehended for violations, and 699 attempts at illegal crossings were prevented.
The ministry also announced the completion of qualification tests for the E-ZPT electric armoured personnel carrier, developed and produced by Makina ve Kimya Endüstrisi, with the first serial units delivered to the Land Forces. Various other types of weapons and ammunition were also supplied to the military.
Turkish forces continue to participate in international missions and exercises. In the coming months, personnel will take part in NATO multinational manoeuvres, including Steadfast Dart, Northern Quadriga, Dynamic Mariner, Cold Response, and Joint Warrior, as well as patrolling maritime and airspace in the Mediterranean, Atlantic, Baltic, and Northern Seas. Cooperation with allies on mine countermeasures in the Black Sea also continues.
