Armenian prosecutors seek confiscation of ex-lawmaker's property
Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Court has accepted a new lawsuit filed by the Prosecutor General’s Office seeking the confiscation of assets allegedly acquired through illegal means.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the claim targets former Consul General of Armenia in St. Petersburg and former member of parliament Rubik Hakobyan, as well as an individual affiliated with him, Caliber.Az reports.
Prosecutors are seeking the confiscation, in favour of the Republic of Armenia, of five real estate properties, the right to purchase one additional property, and two vehicles.
The case has been filed under Armenia’s legal framework for the forfeiture of illicitly obtained property, which allows authorities to pursue civil confiscation without a criminal conviction.
Hakobyan previously served in the National Assembly representing the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) and later the “Heritage” Party.
