Armenian speaker: Peace not just in our hearts, but also in Azerbaijan’s perception
Armenia’s parliamentary speaker, Alen Simonyan, described his recent meeting with the Chairwoman of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament), Sahiba Gafarova, as “very positive and warm”.
Simonyan said the two sides agreed to discuss and propose a concrete mechanism for the next steps in dialogue, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
“Peace is not only in our hearts, not only in our perception, but also in the perception of the Azerbaijani side,” Simonyan emphasised.
On October 21, Gafarova met with Simonyan in Geneva, on the sidelines of the 151st Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly.
The two leaders welcomed agreements reached at the Washington Summit and ongoing efforts to normalise bilateral ties.
They stressed the importance of sustained constructive dialogue and pledged support for parliamentary-level confidence-building measures to strengthen mutual understanding between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
