Azerbaijani, Armenian parliamentary speakers back confidence-building measures in Geneva PHOTO / UPDATED
A meeting between the Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament), Sahiba Gafarova, and the Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, took place on October 21 in Geneva within the framework of the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
According to the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis, cited by local media, during the talks, both parliamentary leaders welcomed the agreements achieved at the Washington Summit and the ongoing steps toward the normalisation of bilateral relations.
Gafarova and Simonyan emphasised the importance of maintaining a constructive dialogue and expressed their readiness to support confidence-building initiatives at the parliamentary level as part of efforts to strengthen mutual understanding between the two nations.
