Armenian truckers struggle to enter Russia under new migration rules

Armenian truck drivers are experiencing problems entering Russia due to recently implemented migration rules, Armenian media reports, according to Caliber.Az.

Tatevik Bezhanyan, a representative of the Armenian Caritas charitable organisation, told journalists that some drivers have already been denied entry for exceeding the permitted duration of stay.

Since January 1, 2025, visa-free foreigners are allowed to remain in Russia for no more than 90 days within a calendar year, whereas previously they could stay 90 days within 180 days. Because of long queues at border checkpoints and delays on roads inside Russia, truckers often reach the 90-day limit after just 6-7 trips, preventing them from entering.

The organisation emphasised that this issue requires urgent attention and intervention by Armenian authorities.
