Armenian truckers struggle to enter Russia under new migration rules

13 October 2025 13:09

Armenian truck drivers are experiencing problems entering Russia due to recently implemented migration rules, Armenian media reports, according to Caliber.Az.

Tatevik Bezhanyan, a representative of the Armenian Caritas charitable organisation, told journalists that some drivers have already been denied entry for exceeding the permitted duration of stay.

Since January 1, 2025, visa-free foreigners are allowed to remain in Russia for no more than 90 days within a calendar year, whereas previously they could stay 90 days within 180 days. Because of long queues at border checkpoints and delays on roads inside Russia, truckers often reach the 90-day limit after just 6-7 trips, preventing them from entering.

The organisation emphasised that this issue requires urgent attention and intervention by Armenian authorities.
