Armenians applaud proposal to become part of Russia
There have long been opinions that Armenia is losing the rest of its statehood and that it is not long before it may disappear from the political map of the world.
Suffice it to recall the statement by Russian political scientist Sergei Kurginyan who said that "Armenia does not need independence". The statement sparked anger among Armenian society. Several years have passed since then, but they have changed little. Moreover, more and more Armenians are beginning to believe that there is little left of independent Armenia.
Caliber.Az reports that the Armenian political figure, ex-Advisor to the Chief of Armenian General Staff, and former Presidential Advisor on National Security Vladimir Poghosyan told about it recently in his interview for the Noyan Tapan TV show.
According to him, the Union of Armenians of Russia (UAR) organised "The 108th anniversary of genocide" event in Moscow on April 24 (according to UAR website, it was held in the large conference hall of President Hotel - Ed.) However, instead of shedding tears for the "innocently murdered one and a half million Armenians," the meeting participants proposed that Armenia become part of Russia.
"The apotheosis of the event was an appeal to Armenia to become part of the Russian Federation. And this call was met with a standing ovation from the Armenians present in the hall. This is where the 5th column hides. I appeal to the head of the National Security Service, General Armen Abazyan to identify who uttered this, and who applauded, and to ban the President of the UAR Ara Abramyan from entering Armenia for life. This is a call for the wind-down of Armenian sovereignty. And those who were there with Armenian passports should be arrested upon their arrival here. They all are members of one big gang," Poghosyan said.
