ASTRA: Drone activity spotted near military site in Samara, Russia PHOTO / VIDEO
Residents of the city of Samara reported spotting unmanned aerial vehicles flying over the city overnight on May 4, according to the open-source intelligence analysis by ASTRA.
The drones were seen across several districts, including areas near a former military facility located about three kilometres from the observation point.
Video published by Exilenova+ and analysed by ASTRA is said to have been recorded from Preobrazhenskaya Street in the Yuzhny Gorod district.
Analysts identified a possible nearby site at Utevskaya Street 46, previously associated with Military Unit No. 11386.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that the site may currently be used by the OMON “Smerch” transport unit of the Russian National Guard Directorate for the Samara region.
The regional governor also stated that a “Carpet” regime had been introduced, which involves the closure of airspace at all altitudes.
