ASTRA: Drones crash near key industrial sites in Russia’s Syzran PHOTO/VIDEO

Two drones crashed in different parts of Syzran, Russia's Samara region, including near the city’s river port and close to a major oil refinery, ASTRA reports.

One of the UAVs fell in a private residential area in the Metallistov settlement microdistrict in southern Syzran, between Tashkentskaya and Chimkentskaya streets. The drone was likely neutralized by Russian electronic warfare (EW) systems before crashing.

The crash site is located approximately 2 to 2.5 kilometres from the Syzran Oil Refinery, which has previously been targeted in drone attacks.

A second drone reportedly came down in the Selymash district in the northern part of the city, near the Syzran River Port. ASTRA said its conclusions were based on geolocation and analysis of eyewitness footage published by the Exilenova+ Telegram channel. The UAV is also believed to have been disabled by electronic warfare systems.

The Selymash district includes a large industrial zone housing enterprises such as Selymash LLC and Syzran Ceramics, along with food-processing facilities and storage complexes.

According to the report, Selymash LLC fulfills contracts for Tyazhmash, a Syzran-based manufacturer involved in Russia’s state defence procurement program. The company produces launch infrastructure, including towers and platforms for Soyuz-2 and Angara A5 rockets used at the Plesetsk and Vostochny cosmodromes.

Tyazhmash also manufactures large support and rotation systems for radar stations linked to air and missile defence systems, as well as equipment for silo-based launch systems operated by Russia’s Strategic Missile Forces and heavy crane systems for the Russian Navy.
