ASTRA: Major blaze rocks essential Russian ship repair complex PHOTO
A fire has broken out at the Kronstadt Marine Plant JSC in Kronstadt, which services ships and submarines of the Russian Navy, according to a report by the ASTRA Telegram channel.
Smoke was seen rising above the docks of the Kronstadt Marine Plant in the port city of Kronstadt, which administratively forms part of St. Petersburg, an ASTRA OSINT analyst determined based on eyewitness photos.
Earlier, St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov reported casualties following drone attacks in several districts but did not specify the affected sites.
Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the “Petersburg Oil Terminal” and a defence industry facility in the Tambov region had been struck, and that military objectives at a base in Kronstadt had also been hit.
The Kronstadt Marine Plant JSC is one of the largest ship repair enterprises in Russia’s northwestern region. Since April 2016, it has been part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation. The facility contains four dry docks and annually services dozens of naval ships, auxiliary vessels of the Baltic and other fleets, as well as submarines.
