ASTRA: Oil depot fire in Russia’s Tver region continues after Ukrainian attack PHOTO
An oil storage facility in Russia's Tver region remains on fire more than a day after it was struck in a Ukrainian attack, according to open-source intelligence (OSINT) analysis by the independent outlet ASTRA.
ASTRA said one of its analysts geolocated video footage submitted by a subscriber and confirmed it was filmed in the city of Tver. The analysis found that the fire was still burning in the same area shown in videos published on the afternoon and evening of July 9.
According to the individual who provided the footage, the images were taken around midnight local time. At the time of publication, the blaze was still ongoing.
Earlier on July 9, ASTRA reported that the "Tvernefteprodukt" oil depot had caught fire following a Ukrainian strike. Later that day, the governor of the Tver region confirmed that a fire had broken out at the facility.
The extent of the damage and whether the fire has disrupted fuel storage or distribution operations remain unclear.
