Media: Drone strike on Russia’s Saratov injures 10 PHOTO / VIDEO / UPDATED

Ten people, including three children, were injured in a drone attack on Russia’s Saratov, regional Governor Roman Busargin said.

“Damage to several homes in Saratov was recorded as a result of the attack by enemy drones,” the governor noted. “Ten people were injured, including three children. Everyone received the necessary medical assistance. Six people were hospitalised, and there is no threat to their lives.”

Busargin added that a temporary accommodation centre had been opened for those affected.

Earlier, OSINT analyst ASTRA determined that the drones had targeted the Saratov Oil Refinery. ASTRA reported that the plant had been targeted in Ukrainian attacks on several previous occasions.

Ukrainian drones targeted an oil refinery in Saratov, Russia, according to an open-source intelligence (OSINT) analysis by ASTRA.

Residents of Saratov and the surrounding region reported explosions and a fire overnight on September 8. At around 3:30 a.m., regional Governor Roman Busargin warned of a drone threat.

About an hour later, Busargin confirmed that the attack caused “damage to civilian infrastructure” and said there were casualties.

ASTRA’s OSINT analysis indicated that the target was PJSC Saratov Oil Refinery. The plant has been part of Rosneft since March 2013.

The Saratov Oil Refinery is one of Russia’s oldest oil-processing facilities, having been established in 1934. It came under the control of Russian state oil company Rosneft in 2013. As of 2023, the refinery processed 4.8 million metric tons of crude oil annually.

ASTRA previously reported that the refinery had been targeted in Ukrainian attacks on several occasions.
