Axios: US, Iran discuss 14-point memorandum to end conflict
Representatives of the Trump administration and Iranian officials are discussing a one-page, 14-point memorandum that could form the basis for ending the conflict in the region, Axios reports.
The outlet said the draft outlines a 30-day negotiation period during which the parties would address maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, restrictions on Iran’s nuclear programme, and partial lifting of US sanctions.
The document reportedly includes a 12–15-year moratorium on uranium enrichment, after which Tehran would be allowed to carry out limited enrichment up to 3.67%.
Iran would also commit not to pursue nuclear weapons, restrict activities at underground nuclear facilities, and strengthen inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency, including snap inspections.
In return, the United States would gradually lift sanctions and unfreeze Iranian assets held abroad.
The draft also reportedly includes provisions for the reimposition of sanctions and possible military measures if negotiations collapse.
The proposed talks are expected to take place in Islamabad or Geneva, with discussions being conducted both directly and through intermediaries.
