Azerbaijan, China to cooperate in anode blocks production

Azerbaijan Industrial Corporation and Chinese company Sunstone Development will cooperate in the production of anode blocks, one of the most important raw materials for aluminium production.

The issue was considered at a meeting between the management teams of the two companies, Report informs, citing the Corporation.

During the meeting, such important issues as joint activities on the aforementioned project, establishing long-term cooperation and attracting investment to Azerbaijan were discussed.

Sunstone Development produced 1 million tonnes of anodes in 2011 and brought this figure up to 2.5 million tonnes in 2022. And in 2025, the plan is to increase production to 4.5 million tonnes. Sunstone Development accounts for 39 per cent of China's anode exports. The company is one of the world's largest producers of anodes.
