Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan eye joint fish feed plant to bolster aquaculture
Baku and Bishkek are exploring the potential construction of a feed mill to support Kyrgyzstan’s fishing industry.
According to the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan, this initiative was the focus of a working meeting between representatives of the fisheries departments of Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan, Caliber.Az reports.
During the discussions, both sides reviewed prospects for cooperation in the field of aquaculture, highlighting that establishing a facility to produce high-quality feed for fish farms would mark a significant milestone in advancing the sector.
Participants stressed that developing such specialised infrastructure would boost fish production, enhance farm efficiency, and contribute to strengthening Kyrgyzstan’s food security.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Department of Fisheries reaffirmed its willingness to continue collaboration with the Azerbaijani side and relevant Kyrgyz authorities to realise the feed mill project.
In the coming period, the parties plan to hold further consultations and work on drafting proposals that will define the framework and modalities of the cooperation.
