Azerbaijan clarifies fate of 10 more missing people during First Garabagh War
Chairman of the Azerbaijani State Commission for Prisoners and Missing Persons Ali Nagiyev has said that the fate of 10 more missing people during the First Garabagh War (1988-1994) has been unveiled.
“On the eve of this conference, we achieved the identification of the remains of 10 more of our citizens, of which 9 were military personnel and one was a civilian,” Nagiyev said at the conference on “Increasing national and global efforts to clarify the fate of missing persons,” APA reports.
The Chairman noted that among them is the National Hero of Azerbaijan Riad Akhmedov.
In the meantime, Baku is hosting an international conference on “Increasing national and global efforts to clarify the fate of missing persons”.
The event is being attended by Chairman of the State Commission for Prisoners and Missing Persons Ali Nagiyev, former President of Croatia Stjepan Mesic, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait for Prisoners and Missing Persons Ambassador Rabia Saad al-Adsani and other officials.
A short film on the problems of missing persons was shown at the event.
President Ilham Aliyev's address to the participants of the conference was read out by Chairman of the State Commission Ali Nagiyev.
