Azerbaijan congratulates fraternal Türkiye on 100th anniversary of Victory Day "Our countries will win even greater victories"
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence has congratulated Türkiye on Victory Day, which is celebrated on August 30 and embodies the 100th anniversary of victory in the War of Independence.
The fraternal peoples of Türkiye and Azerbaijan will solemnly celebrate the 100th anniversary of this victory gained as a result of courage, heroism and love for the motherland, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence told Caliber.Az.
“The Türkiye-Azerbaijan relations, which began from the declaration of independence of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic on May 28, 1918, are developing well upon the philosophy of Turkish great leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk “Joy of Azerbaijan is our joy, sorrow is our sorrow” and the philosophy of Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev “One nation, two states" in all spheres, including those in the defence sector,” the congratulatory message says.
According to the message, it is an indisputable fact that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan play an exceptional role in achieving the current level of relations between the two fraternal countries.
“Strengthening and further expansion of relations with Türkiye, a reliable ally of Azerbaijan, is an important part of the foreign policy of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Historical, religious and cultural ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye open up new opportunities for the development of existing cooperation in the military sphere. Military cooperation intensifies the brotherhood between two peoples. Azerbaijan and Türkiye are closely cooperating for the benefit of both countries and the region within all international organisations to further intensify multilateral ties based on mutual trust and brotherhood. It is important for our relations to continue developing and to be passed on to future generations,” the congratulatory message says.
According to the message, the second Karabakh war further strengthened the Azerbaijan-Türkiye ties. Azerbaijani and Turkish soldiers marched shoulder to shoulder along Azadlig Square at the Victory Parade on December 10, 2020. The Azerbaijani people greeted the Azerbaijani and Turkish soldiers with great joy. On this historic day, all the Azerbaijani cities were decorated with the flags of Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
“At present, the Azerbaijan-Türkiye relations are based on allied relations in accordance with the Shusha Declaration, and as its integral part, consistent measures are being taken in military development. Mutual military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye further strengthens our unity. The Azerbaijan-Türkiye fraternal relations contribute to the preservation of peace and stability in the region,” the congratulatory message says.
According to the message, the inseparable relations of friendship and brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, having the same ancestry, language, religion, and culture, have existed and will continue to exist throughout history. These ties will be developing and strengthening, our countries will gain even bigger victories.
“The glorious Turkish army led by a great commander, prominent statesman Mustafa Kemal Ataturk gained a victory on August 30, 1922, that decided the fate of the liberation war and the fate of Türkiye. The Turkish people remember the date of August 30 as "Victory Day". It is a source of pride for every Turk,” the message says.
“The invincibility of the Turkish soldier in the battles for independence and the steadfastness of the Turkish people were recognised by the enemies. The valour shown by the Turkish nation in the war of independence is inscribed in golden letters in Turkish history and legends were created,” the congratulatory message says.
According to the message, the image created by the heroes of this war, their dreams of freedom and statehood, one nation became a reality on the example of two countries, namely, Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
“The leadership and personnel of the Azerbaijani army congratulate the leadership and personnel of the Turkish Armed Forces on the 100th anniversary of the Victory, and revere the sacred memory of the martyrs who inscribed their name in history in golden letters in the name of statehood and freedom,” the congratulatory message says.
