Azerbaijan denies allegations on humanitarian crisis due to road blockage in Karabakh
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has said that the allegations on a humanitarian crisis as a result of the closure of the Shusha-Khankandi road are false.
“The goal is to stop illegal work. These allegations are false,” Bayramov told media, APA reports.
Bayramov emphasized that the claims that Azerbaijan had stopped distributing gas to areas temporarily controlled by Russian peacekeepers were completely unfounded.
He reminded that Azerigas Production Union issued a statement in this regard.
“If there is a problem, it should be considered and solved. The Azerbaijani side did not create problems. There were also problems with gas supply in our other areas with severe weather conditions. This is not a new case,” the minister said.
“If there was a dialogue between the local population and state agencies, the issue would have been resolved in time. Now they are avoiding conversation with the Azerbaijani side to aggravate the situation,” he added.
"The Armenian population of Karabakh has no problem with food or medicine. Azerbaijan is ready to provide any humanitarian aid," Bayramov stressed.
The minister noted that Azerbaijan is not responsible for the gas supply in this territory.
"That is, all talk about gas is a fake. In mountainous areas there are regular problems associated with cold weather conditions. The leaders of the local Armenian population spread false information. And they avoid communication," he underlined.
