MFA: Azerbaijan reaffirms support for Georgia’s sovereignty
Azerbaijan has reaffirmed its support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and the peaceful resolution of the conflict as Tbilisi commemorates the seventeenth anniversary of the 2008 Russia-Georgia war.
“We fully support the peaceful resolution of conflict in Georgia based on the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders,” the Ministry wrote on X, Caliber.Az reports.

The statement also highlighted the importance of the bilateral relationship between the two neighbours.
“Azerbaijan continues to attach great importance to its close partnership and neighborly relations with Georgia,” the Foreign Ministry added.
The 2008 war resulted in the occupation of Abkhazia and South Ossetia by Russian forces, leaving 411 Georgians dead and displacing around 130,000 citizens internally.
