Azerbaijan expanding medical ties with Cuba PHOTO

A meeting with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Cuba to Azerbaijan Carlos Enrique Valdes de la Concepción has been held at the Azerbaijani Health Ministry.

Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Cuba Ruslan Rzayev attended the meeting, the Health Ministry told Caliber.Az.

While greeting the guests, Azerbaijani Health Minister Teymur Musayev stressed that friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Cuba are successfully developing both in bilateral and multilateral formats.

Musayev noted that interstate cooperation in the field of healthcare and medical science, as in all spheres of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Cuba, is exemplary.

“A clear example is that Cuban specialists arrived in Azerbaijan as part of measures aimed at preventing the widespread spread of COVID-19 infection in 2020,” he noted.

“This step also shows solidarity, which will make a significant contribution to the further strengthening of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Cuba,” he said.

In his speech, Musayev emphasised that Cuba's well-developed national healthcare system was recognised as one of the best in the world. He said that the availability and training of highly qualified medical personnel, innovation, and medical tourism have always been the hallmark of Cuba.

In conclusion, the minister expressed hope for further successful development of cooperation in the field of healthcare, medical science, and other spheres.

In turn, Carlos Enrique Valdes de la Concepción stressed that Cuba pays special attention to relations with Azerbaijan. The ambassador reminded that the thirtieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries has been marked this year. He noted that there are close ties between Azerbaijan and Cuba in many spheres.

“The arrival of a team of doctors from Cuba to Azerbaijan during the COVID-19 pandemic testifies to the high level of these relations. I believe that our ties will continue developing,” the ambassador said.

Carlos Enrique Valdes de la Concepción also emphasised the importance of dynamic cooperation in the field of health and medical science.

During the conversation, which was held in the spirit of constructive dialogue and mutual understanding, new prospects for the development and strengthening of Azerbaijani-Cuban cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry were also discussed.
