Azerbaijan, Harvard unveil final version of “Green Growth Portal”
The final version of the global digital Green Growth Portal, developed jointly by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy and the Growth Lab at Harvard University’s Centre for International Development, was presented at COP30 in Belém.
According to local media, citing the Ministry of Economy, the event took place at the Azerbaijani pavilion and was attended by representatives of relevant government bodies, international organisations, academia, business associations, and financial institutions.
Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Umayra Taghiyeva, outlined the main directions of the country’s green transformation policy, implemented under the “Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development” document.
She highlighted efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, rapidly expand the share of renewable energy, and ongoing initiatives in Karabakh, Eastern Zangezur, and Nakhchivan, designated as green energy zones.
Ketan Ahuja, a research fellow at Harvard’s Growth Lab, presented participants with the analytical tools of the portal and its capabilities for integrating into green value chains through the platform.
The portal covers strategic perspectives for over 140 countries and provides 10 years of data on key minerals in the green value chain, as well as products related to green hydrogen, nuclear, solar, and wind energy, and electric vehicles.
Originally launched in Baku during COP29, the portal is integrated into Harvard University’s Atlas of Economic Complexity, which has more than 1.7 million users.
