Baku advances construction of mystery vessel resembling Titanic PHOTO

Construction of a new vessel is progressing at Baku Shipyard, with assembly and installation work on the ship’s hull now underway, according to the shipyard’s press office.

The vessel’s exact type and intended purpose have not yet been disclosed. It remains unclear whether the ship is being built as a passenger vessel, cargo ship or for another purpose. Further details are expected to be announced at a later date, Caliber.Az reports. 

Images of the vessel under construction have attracted attention because the design of its bow — the front section of the ship — bears a resemblance to that of the famous RMS Titanic, particularly in the shape of its stem and distinctive metal railing.

The Titanic was a British transatlantic passenger, cargo and mail steamship operated by the White Star Line. It was the second of three Olympic-class ocean liners and was designed to operate regular services between Southampton and New York, a journey of roughly 5,800 kilometres.

When the Titanic entered service in 1912, it was the largest ship in the world.
