Azerbaijan inaugurates Olympic House in Paris
The opening ceremony of the Azerbaijan Olympic House took place at the Cultural Center of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in France, marking the country's participation in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Azerbaijan's Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) Azer Aliyev, NOC Vice President Chingiz Huseynzada, Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev, Azerbaijani Ambassador to France Leyla Abdullayeva, Turkish Ambassador to France Yunus Demirer, Permanent Delegate of Azerbaijan to UNESCO Elman Abdullayev, the chargé d'Affaires of the Russian embassy, representatives from various Olympic committees, local community members, Azerbaijani diaspora, and journalists, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
In their remarks, Azerbaijani Ambassador to France Leyla Abdullayeva and NOC Vice President Chingiz Huseynzada announced that 48 Azerbaijani athletes are set to compete in 15 sports disciplines during the global event.
Highlighting Azerbaijan's Olympic history, the speakers noted that Azerbaijan first participated in the Olympic Games as an independent country in 1996, achieving great success since then. They expressed confidence that Azerbaijani athletes would continue to excel in the 33rd Summer Olympic Games.
The Azerbaijan Olympic House aims to welcome international visitors to experience the country's history, music, culture, and cuisine. It will also serve as a gathering place for Azerbaijanis, residents, and supporters, offering opportunities to connect with Azerbaijan’s Olympic athletes.
During the event, publications from the Azerbaijan Olympic Committee were displayed and distributed among the participants.
