UEFA presidential election to be held in Astana, Kazakhstan in 2027
The 51st UEFA Congress will be held in Kazakhstan's capital, Astana, on April 22, 2027, where delegates are set to elect the organisation's new executive committee members, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports has stated.
It said representatives of all 55 national football associations, the UEFA president, executive committee members, delegates from FIFA, European leagues, club associations and international sports organisations are expected to attend, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.
UEFA will cover all costs associated with the event.
The UEFA Congress is the governing body's highest decision-making body.
According to Kazakh authorities, hosting the congress would mark an important step in the development of football in the country.
Kazakhstan is modernising its football infrastructure, expanding youth football programmes and reforming club governance.
As part of the first stage of club commercialisation, 11 teams have transitioned to a model involving private investors, attracting more than 80 billion tenge ($180 million) in investment.
A further eight clubs are expected to be commercialised during the second phase.
