Azerbaijan repatriates five citizens, including children, from Syria
The government of Azerbaijan has repatriated five of its citizens from Syria as part of coordinated efforts to bring nationals affected by conflict back home, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
According to the statement, the group—comprising three children and two women—was returned on April 21 following a phased process. Authorities first confirmed the individuals’ identities, location, and Azerbaijani citizenship before arranging their safe transfer to Türkiye, Caliber.Az reports.
Officials from relevant government agencies were dispatched to Istanbul, where the returnees underwent medical and psychological assessments. The Azerbaijani diplomatic missions in Türkiye facilitated the process, providing the individuals with necessary travel documents and airline tickets for their journey home.
The Foreign Ministry stated that the next stage will focus on the social rehabilitation and reintegration of the returnees. It also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuing efforts to repatriate Azerbaijani citizens who have been affected by armed conflicts abroad.
