Azerbaijan’s ASAN Xidmət public service model earns acclaim in Turkish media

Azerbaijan is showcasing to the world a high-quality public service model under a unified brand, ASAN Xidmət, according to a recent article published in the Turkish newspaper Ekonomi.

Journalist Zeynep Gürcanlı, who previously visited one of the ASAN Xidmət centres in Baku, highlights the challenges currently faced by Türkiye’s electronic government system (e-Devlet), Caliber.Az reports citing local media.

In contrast, she notes, Azerbaijani citizens enjoy seamless access to a wide range of services, often within minutes, thanks to the successful implementation of the ASAN Xidmət model.

The article emphasises that ASAN Xidmət consolidates hundreds of services under one roof, greatly simplifying life not only for Azerbaijani nationals but also for foreigners residing in the country.

The convenience and quality of the services have contributed to the model’s international acclaim, with Azerbaijan exporting this approach to 15 countries worldwide.

Gürcanlı draws particular attention to the popularity of the ASAN Xidmət mobile application among the public, which further facilitates access to services.

A key aspect of the model’s success is the active role of volunteers. The article states: “Today’s volunteers are tomorrow’s civil servants. The successful work of ASAN Xidmət volunteers is considered an advantage for the future careers of young specialists.”

Currently, Azerbaijan operates 28 ASAN Xidmət centres nationwide, including seven in the capital, Baku.

The report also highlights the efficient operation of the ASAN Xidmət radio station, which supports public engagement and awareness.

Finally, the journalist recalls that Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan took part in the opening ceremony of one of the ASAN Xidmət centres, underscoring the strong ties between the two countries and the significance of the model.
