Azerbaijan’s candidate becomes director-general of OIC Labour Centre secretariat PHOTO
At the opening of the General Assembly of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Labor Center, established in Baku, elections were held based on voting by member countries.
As is known, the chairmanship of the General Assembly of the OIC Labour Centre was entrusted to the Republic of Azerbaijan, while the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was elected as a deputy, according to Azertac.
Azerbaijan has been designated as a permanent member of the Executive Council as the host country of the center. Ten countries, including Azerbaijan, have been represented there. The candidate from Azerbaijan, Azar Bayramov, was elected Director General of the Secretariat of the OIC Labour Centre.
Bayramov was born in 1977. He graduated from Baku State University (faculty of journalism), the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (state and municipal administration), the Azerbaijani State University of Economics (MBA programme/finance), Diplomatic Academy of Vienna (European integration and cooperation). He is currently pursuing a doctorate at the Academy of Public Administration and is also pursuing a master's degree at the Technical University of Madrid.
Moreover, Bayramov worked in senior positions at the Ministry of Youth and Sports. He is involved in the projects being implemented jointly with the International Labour Organisation, the World Bank and other institutions, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, and AzerTelecom LLC. He has been an advisor to the chairman of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan since 2020.
He was a member of the organizing committee of several national and international events, working groups on the Strategic Roadmap, and a lecturer on artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, and robotics. He was also the chairman of the UN Intergovernmental Groups of Experts on E-Commerce and the Digital Economy. Currently, he teaches Innovation Management in the SABAH groups of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC), and he is also the chairman of the UN expert group on investment, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Chairman of the Azerbaijani parliament’s Labour and Social Policy Committee Musa Guliyev, President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organisations of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mammad Musayev and Chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation Sattar Mehbaliyev delivered speeches at the meeting.
The presentations on the activity of OIC institutions in eliminating unemployment, developing the workforce, and strengthening social protection were made at the preparatory meeting for the ministerial session of the conference on November 22.
