Azerbaijan’s permanent mission: Attempts of reviving OSCE Minsk Group can be fueled by illusions
Head of the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the OSCE Rovshan Sadigbayli has said that Azerbaijan appeals to the OSCE to call on Armenia to refrain from unacceptable behavior.
There is no other alternative in the region, except for long-term peace and stability, APA's European bureau reports citing Sadigbayli’s statement.
According to the document, the required attention was not paid to the most heinous international crimes committed by the Armenian Armed Forces during the conflict.
“Unfortunately, some remain silent viewing numerous reports and video footages openly proving war crimes committed by the Armenian armed forces against Azerbaijani servicemen, prisoners of war, and civilians, while one-way calls can adversely affect the process,” he said.
EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar stressed the need to investigate the video footage of war crimes committed against Azerbaijanis and called for those responsible to be brought to justice.
Azerbaijan shares the opinion on the importance of progress in the negotiations on a peace agreement between the two countries, and Azerbaijan always takes a consistent and constructive position to strengthen peace in the region and develop multilateral regional cooperation.
Azerbaijan has restored its territorial integrity without any role of the OSCE Minsk Group.
“The attempts of reviving the OSCE Minsk Group and repeating old legends can only be fueled by false expectations or illusions. This could continue the revanchist sentiment that still reigns in Armenia, increase tension and thus divert attention from the post-conflict normalisation agenda,” he added.
