Azerbaijan shuts down embassy in Tehran

The Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan has announced the suspension of the activities of the country's embassy in Iran.

"We have completely suspended the diplomatic activities of the embassy," Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov told local media.

Khalafov also denied certain speculations that diplomatic activity was allegedly not suspended.

“It is completely suspended. Five people remain there in connection with the protection of the administrative building and property of the embassy, those who remain in the embassy will not carry out diplomatic activities," he explained.
