Azerbaijan successfully repatriates citizens from Syria
In a coordinated effort by the Azerbaijani government, eight citizens, including five children and three women, have been repatriated from conflict zones in Syria.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Caliber.Az that the repatriation process, completed on May 14, involved extensive measures to determine the location, identity, and citizenship of the individuals before facilitating their transfer to Türkiye.
Representatives from Azerbaijani state structures responsible for the repatriation efforts were dispatched to Türkiye, where the returnees underwent medical and psychological evaluations. The Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Istanbul played a crucial role in coordinating the efforts, ensuring the safe return of the citizens to their homeland.
The Azerbaijani government has outlined plans for the social rehabilitation and reintegration of the repatriated individuals into society. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the government remains committed to repatriating Azerbaijani citizens affected by armed conflicts abroad, emphasizing ongoing efforts to support and protect its nationals.
