Azerbaijan thwarts drug smuggling from Iran PHOTO

The Azerbaijani Interior Ministry and State Border Guard Service employees foiled an attempt to smuggle a large consignment of drugs from the Islamic Republic of Iran into Azerbaijan.

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan told Caliber.Az that on December 9, at about 10:00 p.m., Reza Isa oglu Badali and Mehdi Murtaza oglu Gafarzadeh, residents of the Iranian city of Ghermi, were detained.

During the search of their cargo, 5 kilograms of marijuana, 460 pills of psychotropic substances, 60 grams of heroin, and a knife were found.

The case is under investigation.
