Azerbaijan to open embassy in Slovakia
Azerbaijan will open an embassy in Slovakia.
Azerbaijani parliament (Milli Majlis) discussed the bill "On Establishment of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Slovakia (Bratislava)" at its plenary session on July 14, Caliber.Az reports.
The bill was put to vote and adopted.
“Azerbaijan's foreign relations increase day by day. Especially our relations with European countries develop," Member of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis Samad Seyidov said at the discussion of the draft law.
The diplomat stressed that this is one of the strategic goals of Azerbaijan: "The opening of the Azerbaijani embassy in Slovakia, a politically important country located in Central Europe, is a very important matter."
Slovakia recognised the independence of Azerbaijan on January 24, 1992. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on November 23, 1993.
The Azerbaijani embassy of in Austria has been representing the country in Slovakia as well. The embassy of the Slovak Republic in Azerbaijan has been active since October 1, 2019.
