Baku, Moscow deepen interparliamentary cooperation
Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament) Sahiba Gafarova has met with First Deputy Speaker of the Russian Federation Council Andrey Yatskin, who is visiting the country to participate in the 24th meeting of the Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
The meeting underlined the importance of the bilateral cooperation commission as a key platform for expanding parliamentary dialogue and addressing a broad range of issues on the Azerbaijan–Russia agenda, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The sides noted that the latest session of the commission had been held successfully and featured constructive and productive discussions on matters of mutual interest.
During the talks, the participants highlighted the positive development of relations between the legislative bodies of the two countries. It was emphasized that regular contacts between parliamentary heads and lawmakers play an important role in further strengthening bilateral ties.
The meeting also addressed cooperation within international parliamentary organizations, including the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Member Nations, and other multilateral forums.
The parties additionally exchanged views on a number of other issues of mutual interest.
